Open for bidness 2

I opened up my etsy shop......with only 4 items.....but hey its open!!!  Someone already favorited my guitar hoops, which I'm really excited about.  It means that someone is taking notice and liking what they see.  No sales yet but I've at least taken the first step. :-)

Open for business

So I opened my bigcartel shop! I only did the free version for now to see how things go. It's somewhat of a soft opening but I think it's still kind of cool!

My sis, the model

I talked my only wonderful little sister into modeling some pieces for me. It's really for me to gain ideas abt styling my jewelry for my sites and to understand what goes into it. Let's just say I have a lot to learn but I'll get there. Especially when I have such a great model!

Something new

I made these for my supervisor. I may have slightly bullied her into them though....unintentionally.

She was wearing a very rock and roll inspired outfit so of course I said I have the perfect earrings for that! (because I do) and she was interested and ordered right away. So maybe not so much bullying as suggesting and in my defense, I was not trying to make a sale, that was a bonus.

So anyway I created this variation of my rock and rolls for her. These are the tiniest hoops I've made so far but they are still adorable. The black and white bead sells it for me.

As of february 11th, I am one whole year older. And though I thank GOD for his many blessings and allowing me to see another year, it was/is a little hard and all too real being IN my 30's. (And we won't even talk about the death of my first idol on that same day)

So I had a simple dinner with a few friends and family and had a great time!

I, of course, made some earrings for the occasion.

I'm on a boat!

Hubs and I took our first cruise together to Cozumel and saying that we had fun is an understatement! Cruising (imo) is the ultimate way to relax on vacay. I can't wait to go again to different destinations. We still don't know what took us so long to do it!.

The only downfall...
It took me 3 days after we disembarked to recover and feel like I was on land again even though I was completely fine on the ship. Next time I will not take off my motion sickness patch as soon as I get off. Lesson learned!!

Open up shop?

I am dying to open up my Etsy shop.  I even listed the addy on my bidness card but its still not open.  I sold 1 item to one of my best friends just to make it easy for her to pay.  So its actually set up, but I haven't nothing listed I should say.  Etsy is a great place and space to showcase, market and sale handmade and unique items but it is very intimidating.  The jewelry business is very saturated because it's so easy to get into.  Just speaking from personal experience, when I was checking out different creative avenues for myself to get into, I settled into jewelry very quickly and easily.  I knew it was something that I would always do and I've been deeply interested in, but I also figured I would do other items as well. (I still believe that I will)  Since I've been making jewelry, everything else went to the back burner.  So needless to say, I'm not the only one drawn to the craft and Etsy is the best place to see this.

With all that being said, I am still dying to have a shop.  I love everything about the site and the community that it has developed.  I think it is one of the best places/venues in 2012 to actually own and have the opportunity to own a business.  I am trying not to let the work that's involved and the saturated market hold me back but it's hard to not let those facts enter my mind.  So I think I will conduct an experiment and open up a shop in bigcartel which from my understanding looks to be another avenue where artists can showcase and sale their work.  I've actually purchased from this site some fly earrings. So I figure I can open up a free account and list 5 items as a tester to see what it feels like to have an online shop.  I find this to be less intimidating.
